Greensboro, N.C., August 28, 2019 – Now celebrating its second year, the North Carolina Folk Festival will present Folk Fest Music Spots – a new program during this year’s Festival featuring eleven local bands in intimate spaces hosted by eight downtown Greensboro businesses.
The Folk Fest Music Spots program is produced in collaboration with Fiddle & Bow Society and with support from Downtown Greensboro, Inc. The performances will take place between 12:30pm and 5:30pm on both Saturday, September 7, and Sunday, September 8.
“The North Carolina Folk Festival brings in thousands of people to downtown Greensboro. This new collaboration with music is a great step to truly showcase what downtown Greensboro has to offer,” says Zack Matheny, President & CEO of Downtown Greensboro, Inc.
“As we strengthen our place as a destination event in downtown Greensboro, we have a unique opportunity to partner with and feature local artists in local spaces adjacent to our traditional Festival site. Fiddle & Bow Society curated the program of local artists with the Festival and will produce the performances at all eight locations.

Fiddle and Bow, founded in 1981, is a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to the promotion and preservation of folk music and dance and their related arts. The North Carolina Folk Festival, an outdoor music festival that will fill downtown Greensboro with music lovers from Friday, Sept. 6 to Sunday, Sept. 8, this year is offering an option for folks who love music but like to go inside every now and then – Folk Fest Music Spots.
Eleven local bands will be playing at eight different businesses downtown on Saturday, Sept. 7 and Sunday, Sept. 8.
Folks Fest Music Spots are being produced in collaboration with the Fiddle and Bow Society with support from Downtown Greensboro Inc. The performances will take place between 12:30 and 5:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
