Want to hear live music?

During these unusual times when Fiddle & Bow is unable to offer live concerts, we would like to support artists who are offering live streaming concerts during this period. Some of these artists are our friends and have appeared on a Fiddle & Bow over the years.  Others artists we love and respect and want to give a call out to their performances as well.

Three sites we recommend you follow to find more artists and concerts you may enjoy are:

The Fiddle & Bow Facebook page which will have updates of live concerts by prior Fiddle & Bow artists as we find out about them.

Art is Alive – a site sponsored by Rhiannon Giddens, Amanda Palmer, and Neil Gaiman.  It advertises itself ans a COVID-19 Resource Guide and has a great calendar of upcoming concerts and events.

Folk Alliance International streaming calendar also supporting artists at this time.

An Old Time Banjo Festival started in 2006 with Mike Seeger. The goal of the festival is to share the joy and knowledge of Appalachian styles of Old Time Banjo. Workshops are included in the festival.

Live-streaming Baltimore Old Time Jam on Tuesday, April 28 @ 7 pm EDT

Howdy friends,

The jam must go on! Join us Tuesday evening for a live-streaming Baltimore Old Time Jam with your trusty hosts Ken & Brad. Pull up a chair, grab your instrument of choice, have a tasty beverage by your side and let’s play tunes! We’ll be coming to you LIVE from the Baltimore Old Time Jam Facebook Page starting at 7pm EDT. We’ll play a “slow jam” for an hour and then bust into a “medium-fast” jam for a bit. Follow along on Facebook and send in your requests. We’ll try to keep it interactive! Turn up your speakers or wear headphones so you can hear us while you’re playing along!

John McCutcheon – All Request Concert – Sunday April 19 @ 3pm Eastern

Hi Folks,
 
Hope you all are healthy and hunkered down.  We’re all good here in beautiful Smoke Rise, getting lots of gardening, reading, and writing done.  Amazing meals nightly, contributing to what Carmen calls “the COVID 19.”
 
An update on activities and projects here:
 
Every Sunday…starting this Sunday!…at 3PM Eastern time I’ll be doing a Facebook concert.  Here’s the schedule:
 
April 19:  All-Request Live Concert
 
April 26:  A Baseball Concert with Chuck Brodsky and lots of special guests!
 
May 1st (yeah, I know it’s not a Sunday, but…):  A Very Special Labor Day Concert…with special guests!
 
May 3:  A Family Show…with a surprise guest!
 
All of these concerts will be benefits for the AFM Local 1000 Emergency Relief Fund, providing immediate, vital assistance to musicians you know and love.
 
I will also likely be doing a guerrilla concert from time to time, but will always let you know at least a couple of days before.  For all the latest, check in with my Facebook Page (I can’t believe it’s come to this!):

I am doing a Triad Stage Facebook Live benefit concert on Sunday, April 19, at 7:00pm. Y’all come if you can. Triad Stage in Greensboro is such a wonderful place in the Triad to see outstanding performances in theatre and music. Great performances, actors, staff and just one big family. Nationally recognized regional theatre right here in your own back yard! Please help support Triad Stage and as many artists as you can through this strange and difficult time. Working together, we’ll all be here to enjoy in person performances again soon!

Robin Bullock livestream concert Monday April 20 7:00 pm EDT

Hello again to all my friends as we’re riding together through this challenging chapter in human history…
 
I was very honored to have the opportunity to share some music with whoever wanted it via a livestream concert this past Saturday evening presented by my friends at White Horse Black Mountain. Thank you to all who joined us and helped support White Horse (and me!).
 
As this pandemic goes on and its toll increases, it’s becoming clear that part of my work as a musician during this time is to do what I can to reach people emotionally through music and help bring them some comfort and serenity, even if it’s no longer possible (for the time being) to do so at public gatherings like concerts and festivals. So, like all my colleagues, I continue seeking ways I can take advantage of technology to get the music out there and make that connection with my fellow human beings. Livestreamed online concerts have been a godsend for all of us, both musicians and listeners (speaking as both of those! Been enjoying lots of online concerts myself!), along with online music lessons via Skype or Zoom, direct patronage via platforms like Patreon, online sales of CDs or downloads, and so many other ways the Internet allows musicians and their audiences to reach each other in a time like this.
 
So I’m delighted to announce another opportunity that just arose: on Monday April 20th at 7:00 pm EDT, I’ll be playing another online concert of Celtic, Appalachian, Baroque and Renaissance music on acoustic guitar, mandolin and cittern (and maybe a surprise or two thrown in along the way), livestreamed this time from the stage of An Die Musik in my former hometown of Baltimore. Here’s all the info:
 

I’ve played on that stage many, many times over the years and it’s always a pleasure; it’s in a historic townhouse just a couple of blocks down the street from the famous Peabody Conservatory of Music, in a room that just happens to have spectacular acoustics. I can’t wait to do a livestream from there – the natural liveness and reverberation in that room always bring out the best in my instruments and (hopefully!) me.
